Stile Sartoriale is the annual event that celebrates Italian bespoke craftsmanship, represented by the Masters of the Accademia Nazionale dei Sartori. The 2022 edition took place from 16 to 17 September, in Rome, with a calendar full of events and meetings.

Manichino d'Oro

From 12 September, for five days, the finalists of the Manichino d'Oro 2022 put themselves on the line by making the garment that took part in the Grand Final of Sartorial Style 2022. Leading the jury this year was Stefano Dominella, President of Unindustria, Fashion, Design and Furnishing Section. The garments, made from the same Loro Piana fabric, paraded on Saturday 17 September at the Campidoglio.

The President of the Jury, Stefano Dominella, announced the winners of the evening's 3 prizes. The prizes were presented by the President of the Academy Gaetano Aloisio, the President of the Golden Mannequin Committee, Lucia Lacognata, and Gian Matteo Mellerio, Head of Marketing - MTM Channel of Loro Piana, sole sponsor of the competition.


Partners

Partner companies from the textile world exhibited their novelties and flagship products in the hall of Villa Malta, which also gathered ni numerous guests. On the afternoon of the 16th, some of them involved Master Tailors in workshops on raw materials, fabrics, etc..


The Meetings

 

'The tailor of the future: instances and actions for the evolution of the craft trade'. This was the title of the conference held within Stile Sartoriale 2022 on 16 September. Participants: Stefano Dominella (President of Unindustria Fashion, Design and Furnishing), Andrea Rotondo (President of Confartigianato Roma), Antonio Franceschini (National Manager of CNA Federmoda), Antonio Tajani (Coordinator of Forza Italia), Corrado Savoriti (President of Unindustria Youth), Franz Botré (Director of Arbiter), Liang-Hung Ho (President of the World Federation of Master Tailors), Monica Lucarelli (Councillor for Productive Activities and Equal Opportunities, Municipality of Rome), Marta Leonori (Regional Councillor, Lazio). Emilio Carelli (Impegno Civico) took the floor with a video message. MISE Deputy Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin sent a message that opened the debate. Liang-Hung Ho (Taiwan), President of the World Federation of Master Tailors, closed the proceedings. Alfredo de Giglio, Communications Officer of the Academy, moderated.

 

On 17 September 2022, again at Villa Malta, the topic of the day was: 'Between training and in-training. Teaching and transmitting a new way of being a Master Tailor'. The speakers were : Ombretta Maffei (CNA National President of Tailor-made Fashion), Neris Beniamina Zecchin (Confartigianato National President of Fashion and Tailoring), Mauro Crimi (CNA National Vice President), Maria Luisa Rubino (Confartigianato Moda National Manager), Liang-Hung Ho (President of the World Federation of Master Tailors), Franz Botrè (Arbiter Director), Lorenzo Cifonelli (France) and Calvo De Mora (Spain), international master tailors. Alfredo de Giglio, Communications Officer of the Academy, moderated.


Gala Night

This year Stile Sartoriale had a double significance: the Academy celebrated its 75th anniversary and did so a stone's throw from the foundation of the Universitas Sutorum, in Piazza del Campidoglio, Rome. An event sponsored by the Great Events, Sport, Tourism and Fashion Department of Roma Capitale. For one evening, the Capital became ROMA CAPUT SUTORUM!

A small selection of the beautiful clothes made by the Academic Master Tailors. Over 60 artefacts, for men and women. Italian haute couture has once again demonstrated its great capabilities.


Special Award

Vita da Sarto
Romano Natali, from Rome, received the Vita Sarto award for having always, with perseverance and dedication, dedicated himself to the art of tailoring. Alessandro Onorato, Councillor for Major Events of the Municipality of Rome, presented the award.
